“This single mom built a beautiful tiny house on her own. Check it out!”

ENTRETENIMIENTO

To find the most practical debt relief program, most of us save, cut back on unnecessary expenses, and create a budget each month.

For this single mom in California,

she found a way to make that happen by downsizing and moving into a tiny house with her 15-year-old daughter!

This single mother used the best debt relief program known to man: downsizing her home.

Before joining the tiny house movement, Shalina lived in the Bay Area with her daughter Katie.

Life there was expensive and, worse still, rent costs continued to rise every year.

This and Shalina’s long-held dream of building her own home inspired her to start building

the tiny house after seeing it many times on TV shows and online.
Fortunately, her father, a contractor, owned a one-acre property in Sacramento,

so she was able to use the site as a construction site.

Shalina built the house herself, using her father’s tools.

The modest house was finally finished after two years of hard work, and the mother and daughter moved in.

Outside the house, Shalina built a fence, a patio and a shed.

As soon as you enter the house, you come straight into the kitchen.

Shalina intentionally kept it small so she had more space for the living room.

The kitchen includes everything you would find in a typical kitchen, including a 20-inch stove, oven,

18-inch dishwasher, and a nearly full-size refrigerator.
Shalina integrated a lot of storage space into her home.

The kitchen has pull-out drawers on the walls and drop-down cabinets on the ceiling. Her motto is clear:

a tiny house can never have enough storage!

Shalina is a collector of unique items and enjoys going to flea markets, thrift stores and estate sales to search for them.

She and Katie love collecting what they call «oddities.»

Although it’s rare for someone who lives in a tiny home to be a hoarder,

Shalina has her reasons for continuing to do so despite living in a small space.

«As much as I’ve learned about downsizing and minimalism,

I’ve also discovered that finding the things you really love and

surrounding yourself with them can really make a space feel like your home,» she said.

Shalina works from home four days a week, so she has set up a small office nook

where she has the option to sit or stand.

The bathroom has a bathtub and this is also where she has placed her washing machine and dryer.
Privacy was extremely important to Shalina,

so she designed both her and Katie’s bedrooms with lockable doors.

The most notable feature of her room is the closet with a glass door

– something she always wanted to have.

Katie absolutely loves her room because she had complete freedom to design it.
Like a typical teenager’s room, it has a vanity table, posters, pictures taped to the wall

and fairy lights that give the room a cozier feel.

In total, Shalina spent about $35,000 to build the tiny house.
